Meet Our Laborers
Bro. Aaron & Ms. Bethany Patton
Bro. Aaron, Dean of Students, grew up in North Carolina. Despite growing up in both a good home and church, around the age of 11, he fell in with the wrong crowd and began getting into trouble including gang activity, drugs, and alcohol. At the age of 13, he was kicked out of school and his mom made the difficult decision to send send him to a boy’s home. While at the home, the Lord graciously saved his soul and turned his life around.
Once departed from the boys' home, he went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps. After serving his time in the military, he relocated to Indiana to marry his wife, Bethany.
While there, he served as an active member in his church in various roles, and also worked as a local police officer for 7 years. He surrendered to the call to preach in 2013 and God later called him and his family to serve as missionaries at the boys home that he was in himself 17 years prior.
Ms. Bethany was born and raised in the state of Indiana and was raised a pastor’s daughter. She was gloriously saved at the age of 16, and is grateful to be serving the Lord in this unique ministry with her husband and their two daughters, Naomi and Moriah.
Through a series of Divine appointments, the Lord allowed our paths to cross with Bro. Patton’s once again and the Lord meshed our hearts together almost immediately. The Lord made it clear that this is where He desires for them to be and we are grateful to have them here, serving alongside us.
Bro. John & Ms. Anna Rush
Bro. John, Superintendent, grew up not too far from the town of Union, in a little community called Pleasant Grove. He was saved at the age of 16 years old during a revival service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. From that point, God began to instill a desire in him to work with young people.
Bro. Rush, while working with young people in his church, learned of the boys’ home and inquired as to if he could be of assistance to the ministry. The home immediately put him to work sanding walls. After working around the home property for about 2 months, he met Ms. Anna.
Ms. Anna, originally from the state of Texas, was sent to the former girls’ home, Happiness Hills when she was a teenager. While in the home, she was saved by God’s grace, and He gave her a reason to live for. He gave her the desire to stay at the home following her graduation and serve Him helping lead other struggling youth to the Lord.
After they were married, they continued to work and serve in the place that they were once a part of themselves, and where they once simply began volunteering their time and energy to the ministry. The Lord then called Bro. Rush to preach the Word. He has served here now for ten years, along with Ms. Anna and their two children, Abigail and Samuel. The Lord has shown His faithfulness over and over again during those ten years, as well as the need for this type of ministry and others like it.
Ms. Desni Kwak
Miss Desni Kwak serves as our school administrator. She was saved at the age of 18 and directly attended Bible College right after. She has been serving the Lord her entire adult life, most of which has been full-time service in children’s home ministries of various kinds.
